Selling old toner cartridges for remanufacturing?
Posted by Alan Beagley on October 13th, 2003

Has anybody found a place that buys old toner cartridges for
remanufacturing? We have a bunch of HP 96A cartridges and cartridges for
a Sharp digital printer/copier; they surely must be worth something?

In my experience, the remanufacturers do want them, but not badly
enough to pay a lot for them. And most remanufacturers are really
picky; they only want their own or genuine OEM empties.

I did, however, discover a local public elementary school where the
kids were collecting them and selling them to a remanufacturer. I
understand they were getting $5 each for them. The remanufacturer was
paying a premium price and taking anything, just for the publicity,
and the kids were doing the work of getting their parents to bring
them from work, etc. I went ahead and donated a couple dozen that I
was wondering what to do with. At least the kids got a few bucks out
of them.
