- Express 500 Switches - System Time and Date
- Posted by mathias@gummert.de on November 28th, 2006
I canīt save the system time and date on my Express 500 switches. Each
time I reboot the switches, the factory default date and time are shown
again (March 1st 1993).
I tried to change date and time using Ciscoīs Network Assistant and
the Device Manager. After changing date and time, I saved my changes -
and after reboot there was the 1993 date again.
I tried different 12.2 IOSs - itīs always the same.
Does anybody have an idea what to do?
Thankīs
Mathias...

Most low end cisco kit does not have a battery so this is normal.
ntp is your friend. Don't know now how much you have
to spend to get a battery backed clock now but it is
a bit more than a Depressed 500 costs anyway.
6500 has one and 877 does not:-) So no more than Ģ100,000 then.
