- price of wireless access point vs wireless routers
- Posted by Ed Zeppelin on August 14th, 2005
I wanted to add an wireless access point to my existing
LAN at home. I got a netgear WGT624 for this because
it had a good price after rebate. I then noticed online what
looks like a more appropriate unit (netgear WG602)
since I just want the access point and no firewall/router
functionality. I already have a nice firewall/router
via my ipcop PC that I don't want to replace.
My question is why is the price on the WG602 higher
than for the WGT624? I'd have thought the simple
access point unit would be much simpler and so
cheaper? Or is this more expensive because of bulk
reasons (netgear sells a lot more of the
624 vs the 602 access points)?

Don't know why, but it seems it can be had reasonably economically...
