trunking

Hello,

A client of mine asked me to configure a vlan to go through the pix
into the internet. Friday I configured vlan 3 on port 22,23,24 on a
cisco switch. This switch is connected to a dell switch which in turn
is connected on port 1 to a 515 pix. The upgrade to version 6.3 on the
pix is made and the configurations are done. However the test machines
on vlan 3 ip 172.16.1.x/24 are able to ping each other but they are
not able to go to the internet. The default vlan ip 192.168.1.x/24 is
working fine. I know i must configure the Dell switch to trunk to the
pix but i do not quite understand how to do this. If i configure the
trunk on port 1 of the dell (which is connected to the e1 interface of
the pix) to pass vlan 3 to the pix will my other users and servers be
affected by this change or not?

Much appreciate the feedback,

Alexis Crawford
