- trunking between Cisco Catalyst 500 switch and other type of switch
- Posted by jshubo@yahoo.com on March 28th, 2006
trunking between 2 Cisco Catalyst 500 work (using dot1q) and VLAN info
is passed, but it doesn't work in connecting a Nortel switch by using
dot1q.
Have any one successfully connect a Cisco Catalyst 500 switch to a
switch other that 500? Since there is no CLI interface to Cisco
Catalyst 500 and there seems no way to check what trunking param is in
used, the only info I can see is from the 500 spec, saying that it
support dot1q...

Yes I have and done it a thousands times.
You need to make sure you check your configurations on both side
Check the cable
check note on the nortel side.

Hi,
The CE500 supports 802.1q trunks ok, we have a number of them connecting
back to 3560 switches.
Make sure the VLAN's are allowed down the trunk of the 3560.
Also, if you are using VTP, the CE500 works in transparent mode, so the
VLANs will need to be created on the CE500.
