- ADF and EPSON Scanners
- Posted by Harry on April 2nd, 2004
Hello,
I'm interested in purchasing an EPSON scanner that has an Automatic
Document Feeder (ADF). I'm aware that EPSON has very few offerings in
this area and their web site is not clear as to which products support
ADF either natively or through an add-on component.
Can anyone out there suggest an EPSON scanner that has a _RELIABLE_
ADF (native or add-on)? Reliability is a very important factor to us,
for in the past we have had many problems using ADF with other venders
products (i.e. paper jams, grabbing too many pages from the document
loader, paper alignment issues, slow speeds, etc.).
Thanks,
- Harry

I've used an Epson Perfection 1640SU with ADF for several years with no
problems. Admittedly not in a high volume office environment, but the feeder
has been 100% reliable.

Hi Harry,
I have an Epson Perfection 3170 Photo together with the optional ADF. I
didn't have any problems so far, but my conclusion about this device is:
- it's no high volume device
- no paper jam so far
- the Epson driver (TWAIN) is pretty well programmed (don't think that
this is usual...)
- the scans are sometimes not perfectly aligned (slightly tilted,
depending how they were fed)
- it works as I've expected it
- it's not very good for scanning other than B/W
Feel free to ask more specific questions.
