Coolscan IV ED and NikonScan 1.3.2
Posted by Bill Best on October 1st, 2003

I just got this thing and have installed everything and when I try to
run the Nikonscan software I get an error saying it can't run and do I
want to report the problem to Microsoft. When I try to run Vuescan I
get the same message. Trying to run it from Photoshop just says
unable to run the software.

I've uninstalled the software and run the registry sweeper and
uninstalled the hardware from the device manager and let it find it
and re-install it. Still no joy. I'm running WinXP on an Athlon
1700xp with lots of hard drive and have the scanner plugged into a USB
2.0 hub.

A response by email would be wonderful since I can't always come to
the groups on a reliablel basis. Thanks for any help provided.

Don't plug it into a hub. I sometimes got that message until I quit
using a hub and made certain to use only the USB cable that came with
the LS-40. The scanner seems quite intolerant of overly long cabling.

PS, mine works quite well with either NikonScan and Viewscan.
