Epson Perfection 3170 Photo Scanner Problem
Posted by Graybeard on February 21st, 2008

The other day , I started the scanner Smart Panel, and the following
SmaPanel message appeared:
"Please install the supported TWAIN driver."

It was working OK the week before.

I deleted the program and re-installed the Epson software : same message.

I went onto the Epson website and down loaded the latest driver; same
message.

Operating system is Windows XP.
Any suggestions?

Maybe a virus scan?

Do some searching of the archives for this group. Look for posts on
Newsoft. They wrote the software for Epson and also offer a utility to help
clean up things after you do a delete so that you can do a more clean
reinstall. Maybe that will help.

Sorry if you got the wrong impression. My solution was addressing corrupt
files and registry entries, not for viruses.

Did you disconnect the scanner while reinstalling the sw?
