Epson scanner dialog / window stealing focus, and alternate scanner control software?
Posted by ITMA on March 4th, 2006

I've a document feeder on an Epson scanner, the idea of course being to scan
a bundle of pages without intervention.

The only problem is that at every page, the Epson scanner control dialoge
window and little blue scan progress bar steals the focus. It means the PC
can hardly be used for anything whilst scanning as, sometimes, a well
intentioned "Enter" catches the Cancel button for the scan, or failing that
there's simply this annoying blob obstructing the working window.

Epson support say nothing can be done.

Is there some better third party software that will control an Epson
scanner? Is there a registry tweak or third party utility that will mask
the annoying pop up of the Epson window?

It's not supported most likely- and I don't work for Epson: but, if you
do a little bit of research on the Microsoft website for "application
focus" , you may get lucky and find your resolution...

(yes, it involves making registry edits)

as to your question about using another application, I don't think it
would make a difference if the application would use the same twain
driver as you're currently using. the focus typically is a result of
the 32bit twain driver operating in a windows environment.

Hope it helps~

I'd rather given up on the internet and things like Tweak UI and things like
http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/540/ as this annoyingly stupid
Epson scanner thing over rides it and still pops up whether you want it to
or not
