I have a Canoscan 8000F which is about 3 years old and, of course, well out
of any warranty period. Some time ago it developed streaks of moisture on
the inside of the glass. The scanner seems to be completely glued together
as there is no sign of screws or any tell-tale cracks that would suggest it
can be taken apart. It seems to be completely moulded.
I can't find any way to get inside to wipe the moisture off. Unfortunately,
the streaks form a herring-bone pattern all the way across and all the way
down the glass. I'm scanning lots of old family photographs and the streaks
appear as dull patches on the men's suits and the ladies dresses.
The streaks are there winter and summer. I've thought of moving the scanner,
for a while, into a warmer room but believe that this would only solve the
problem temporarily. Has sanybody else experienced this? Has anybody got any
ideas? I have an old HP scanner (that I've had for at least 10 years) in
the same room and not far away but there's never been the same problem with
that.
