When I want to scan I always have to use the CD. Is there a way to
install that part of the software so I don't have to do this? Thanks.

Have you run the Setup on the CD for your OfficeJet?
Be sure you are installing the TWAIN software.

You may have to remove the current install and start over from the
beginning.

Go into Device Manager and remove any OfficeJet devices you find after
removing the HP software in Add/Remove Programs and a Reboot.
