pls help with canoscan 600 feeder - green lines!
Posted by thomas on July 28th, 2003

hi,

all scans from the document feeder have vertical green lines (one really
thick one, other thin one) up and down the page. If I use the platter,
everything is perfect. the feeder's bottom part seems to be clean - I opened
the bottom part (using those two little buttons) and cleaned the clear
plastic guide but it didn't seem to make any difference.

does anyone know how the feeder works? i.e. what part of the feeder is
responsible for scanning? also, are there any other parts I can open and
clean? I ask this because somewhere here I read that lines might be caused
by dirt particles/etc. and since the planner works, I'm assuming that the
actual scanning mechanism for the platter is ok and the problem might be
with the feeder...

I've looked around the canon site for maintenance/cleaning guide but
couldn't find anything and emails to their tech support were not helpful.

I'd really hate to scan my magazines page at a time...

thanks a bunch,
thomas

ohhh also, how do you calibrate the thing? I couldn't find any options in
the canon software...
