am using QuickScan, which does what I want, and I don't need Page
Manager. But I cannot get rid of Page Manager, since QuickScan insists
in calling it after each scan. How can I break the link between both?

There is no option in the installation to get rid of Page Manager. If I
omit installaing it, QuickScan does not come up.
