Polaroid SprintScan 4000 Installation Problem: Windows XP
Posted by Brian Dipert on June 29th, 2003

Hi folks, hopefully someone has the answer to this problem which is
baffling the heck of of me. Running Windows XP Professional, initially
without ASPI installed (but I've now installed the latest Adaptec
build, and verified that the installation was successful, as part of
the debugging process). Polacolor Insight 5.5.1 installation seems to
work fine. I reboot and Windows finds the scanner at the end of a
short SCSI chain (a Zip drive and Microtek scanner, also on the chain
but with different IDs, work fine by the way) and then Windows prompts
me for the driver location to complete the hardware installation.

For the life of me I cannot find where it is. I've tried both the
Polaroid directories created under c/program files and c/program
files/common files, along with the one created under
c/windows/twain32, but Windows claims there's no driver file there.
Polaroid's website is no help; the Polacolor Insight readme PDF claims
there's a 'SprintScan Drivers' folder somewhere (it doesn't exist) and
part of the site is down at the moment.

Help! Thanks in advance
