What operating system are you using?

If you have the Minolta software installed, you'll need to remove
the extension(s) it installed (on Mac OS X) to make it visible to
VueScan with the Firewire interface.

I'm using Windows ME, the Minolta software can see and function with the
firewire connection. That may not be a fair reference as most manufactures
write cheats into their software.

That's the problem. The Minolta software on ME doesn't use the
standard STI (Still Imaging Architecture) technique for
interfacing to Firewire scanners, while it does use STI on
Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

You'll need to upgrade to Windows 2000 or Windows XP to use
the Firewire interface with VueScan.
