REQ: high-speed document scanner advice
Posted by Akston on May 2nd, 2005

I'm looking for a high-speed document scanner. I'm willing to pay
~$2K to get what I want; fast scan speed, high resolution (600 dpi
optical minimum), duplex ADF, color, and flatbed format.

I've been researching the following scanners:

Kodak i80
fi-4220C2
Ricoh IS330DC
and maybe a refurbished Epson GT-30000

I'll be using WinXP and I'll buy any cards necessary. I'll be
doing a lot of OCR. The more (good) automation the better.

Does anyone have any opinions, good or bad, on these scanners?

Any opinions of Epson's refurbished products?

Are there any other scanners anyone recommends?

So far I'm leaning to the Kodak or the Epson.

A reader poll says the Kodak is good and I read another favorable
comment about kodak scanners.

From what I've heard Epson builds pretty good products. Some
friends have low-end Epson scanners and like them.

I want to make sure I buy something that's durable (I like to keep
my hardware a long time, I don't upgrade very often), functional,
and RELIABLE!

Thanks for any comments.
