- sharpness question
- Posted by Maggie on July 9th, 2003
I work on a Mac and I noticed that when I open my images in preview
that when the images open the first second the images is very sharp
(it looks awesome)but then it quckly kind of blurs out. Is still looks
pretty good but it just seems strange that it is capable of being so
sharp but it just blurs out. Anyone else noticed that? Anyone knows
why it happens?

This sounds like a bug in Preview's JPEG rendering. I've noticed the
same thing occasionally and have filed a bug report about it.
I would recommend using other display applications for just looking at
image files. Recently downloaded the "Koala Image Viewer" which I found
with http://www.versiontracker.com (just search for "Koala") ... It
does an excellent job and is freeware.
Of course, many other applications can do this well too ... iPhoto,
iView, GraphicConverter, etc.
