- UMAX Mirage IIse questions (film holders & XP SCSI chain)
- Posted by murrayatuptowngallery@yahoo.com on March 8th, 2008
Hello:
I was just given a UMAX Mirage IIse with transparency adapter. My
other scanner is SCSI so that is resolved.
I did not receive any filmholders. My smaller scanner has holders for
up to 4x5 and a glass tray for 8x10, so I am wondering how far off the
glass larger film/transparencies have to be on the UMAX, or whether
they simply go between the top & bottom glass with no holder.
Also, should a film emulsion face the adapter side?
Lastly, while I got the MagicScan software, I did ask the SilverFast
people about multiple-scanner support and SCSI-2 chaining. They didn't
recommend it.
Is it difficult to get two scanners to cooperate, or is performance
just slow/problematic?
If it works, my interest is in just getting it up & running first. I
could add another SCSI card later if it's a matter of improved
performance.
Thank you
Murray

No probs running multiple SCSI scanners.
Just like any other SCSI devices, just need to have their separate ID
numbers on the chain, and chain terminated.
I run an old HP IIcx flatbed and Nikon 2000 on XP Home system.
Can use HP and Nikon software interfaces, or VueScan for both.
Also have old JAZ drive in chain, only because of the cables and device
connections that I wound up with, needed the JAZ in there so could mix
and match different cable pin combos.
