- VueScan 7.6.65 - Epson 2450 - Mac OS X 10.2.8
- Posted by Robert Peirce on November 13th, 2003
The scanner is unchanged, but I have been upgrading both VueScan and OS
X. Now VueScan no longer recognizes the scanner. It is there. I can
scan with Epson's software, but VueScan isn't seeing it.
The last time I scanned I was using 10.2.6 or earlier. I don't recall
the VueScan release but it was probably in the high 30s or 40s.
Anybody have a fix?

I've had a couple of people report that the following
file is the problem:
/Library/Image Capture/Devices/EPSON Scanner
The solution is to move "EPSON Scanner" into a different
folder and then rebooting the computer.
This disables the "Image Capture" application and
lets VueScan talk to the scanner instead. I suspect
it's needed with SilverFast also.
This is a problem that was introduced in Mac OS X 10.3
I hope to add a more elegant fix in VueScan soon.

I'm still having the occasional lock-up of Vuescan under OS 10.2.8.
While the extent of this is tolerable with the LS-2000 it happens about
once every three scans with my 2450.
I've had the protocol file feature activated but the resultung files
usually are a few megabytes large. Do you need the whole file for
analysis or just a particular section of it?

Hi Ralf,
I only need the first and last few hundred lines of vuescan.log
to diagnose a problem like this.
