Vuescan 8.3.58 , Nikon, 4000ED and Nion SF-21 roll adapter
Posted by Rlane on August 7th, 2006

I'm using Vuescan 8.3.58 with a Nikon Coolscan 4000ED and the SF-21
roll film adapter.
Vuescan will not allow me to scan past frame 6 on the roll.
Is there a Vuescan setting that is causing this, or is it just that
Vuescan cannot fully use the SF-21?

Correction, I meant the SA21 film adapter

SA-21 is not meant to scan more than 6 exposures. For an uncut roll you
need SA-30. See, e.g.:

No you don't, you just need a screwdriver and some soldering skills, or
just a little piece of fine wire, the ability to count up to 5, some
hand eye co-ordination and a little sticky tape. ;-)

Good to see you are back. Missed the hard technical discussions.

Hey everybody! Kennedy's back!

So you managed to tear yourself away from the Canon 5D (if memory
serves) for a few minutes, then? ;o)

switched the scanner on twice in that time!

Hope to get some aerial photos of England's south coast with the 5D

ago we were having record temperatures - but I missed that for monsoons
and bombings in India!

life keeps getting in the way. :-(

Of course, that's just the (raw) scanning. I still have the editing.
But at least once it's all in the digital domain I'll breath easier.

I know! Over here it's been sheer torture! I just can't stand the heat
and what's more I can't scan because all the equipment is acting up.

Gulp! That sounds dangerous! Compared to that I live a sedentary life!

Well, aside from the odd forger here who's been trying to fake my

Anyway, I'm really glad you're back even if it's only for a short
