- vuescan - black point white point settings

can anyone suggest starting point settings in vuescan for color
balance, black point, white point and brightness? I am scanning 35
mm 400 tm max film. Any tutorial for using those dials . just cant
get the handf of it. it so unlike the curves box in my minolta scan
elite II

Generally I have found the default settings to be fine - further adjustments
are made in PhotoShop or other graphics software of your choice.
The Vuescan webpage has some links to some tutorials - I haven't read them,
but you might check them out, as well as the Vuescan Help files. The black
and white points are more similar to Levels than to Curves, and brightness
is (I think, but I may be wrong) similar to the Gamma setting.
