- Administrator Logon
- Posted by Craig on September 26th, 2005
I have Windows XP Professional, ver. 2002, Service Pk2.
This is my home computer. My logon has administrator rights but I can not
seem to find the actual administrator logon and password.
My concern is that I am hooked up to a wireless network at home with my
roommate and I have come across some security issues in which it appears he
has been logging on.
Of even more concern is that I can no longer log on as administrator.
What do I need to do?

You can enable passwords to be used for all user logons.
Right click on My computer>Manage. From there, under System Tools, go to
Local Users and Groups. Expand the catagory. Click on Users. In the right
hand side, right click on Administrator and say "Set Password". Set the
password to one which only you know. This will basically disable the
friendly logon and prompt for a password on startup. You can then create
your own user with admin rights, password protect the account, and then use
that logon instead of Administrator.
