converting FAT32 to NTFS
Posted by Mark Guenther on February 4th, 2006

I recently upgraded from ME to XP, but somehow failed to convert my C: drive
to NTFS.

The "convert" command has a parameter called "/cvtarea:filename". The tips
I have read recommend creating a cvtarea equal to the number of files and
directories on my hard drive times 1KB. I have roughly 75,000 files on a
40GB drive. This comes to roughly 75MB. Does this sound correct? Should I
actually use 1024 rather than 1000?

Thanks

Your link appears to be valuable info - thank you. I don't understand how it
pertains to my question about the CVT area. Suggestions regarding that?

The size of the file should be at least the total number of
files and folders that exist on your drive multiplied by 1,024.
