- Facing startup problems: Your Account has been temporarily disabled
- Posted by sbalki@gmail.com on January 23rd, 2006
Hi,
When I logged into my administrator account in my Dell Inspiron 9100,
it gave me the error message "your account has been temporarily
disabled".
One time when i was able to logon, it showed C: (tats the only drive I
have) as empty.
Is this some kinda virus...I have lot of data on the disk..can it be
recovered?
Any help to resolve this would be highly appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance!

That does not sound good at all. I don't think that is a legitimate error
message in that I have never seen "temporarily disabled" but I have seen
disabled. Try booting into Safe Mode to see if that helps or not. If not you
may need to try and access your data by putting your hard drive in another
computer as a secondary/slave drive being sure to scan that drive for
malware from the functioning operating system, installing a parallel install
of the operating system, or booting from something like Bart's PE which you
can make from your copy of the operating system. --- Steve
