- Help with AD schema extensions for Vista wireless
- Posted by lca1630 on June 19th, 2008
Hello,
I am planning for add the Vista wirless AD scema extensions. I am new to
this and am hoping for a little feedback. We have a server 2003 R2 domain. I
have the white papaer on making this change and it seems pretty straight
forward. One problem is I do not have the luxary of a testing environment.
The second is I'm still a little foggy on a disaster recovery plan. It seems
that you can not restore schema info but only disable additions you make, is
this true? Also, if anyone has done this before please lend a helping hand.
Thanks in advance.

I know nothing about this particular extension, but as a general comment if
you're going to do anything that might break a server, you need two
trustworthy backups, and these backups must include the system-state info.
I prefer to also have an image of the system partition made with Acronis,
ghost, etc. This need not be entirely current, so long as it will serve to
restore a tape backup from. That way you can get it back up and running much
more quickly than having to start from bare metal.

It's true that schema extensions can't be undone. To my knowledge, no schema
extension has ever broken anyone's forest.
