How to give "users" access right to clear the "Application" log
Posted by Kan on February 8th, 2006

Please help "Users" group user doesn't have the right to clear the eventlog,
error message is
"Clearing the event log failed because ... Access is denied"

What can I do to change it, so that users under "Users group" can clear the
application log as well. I don't want to give "Administractor Right" for the
user only to be able to clear the log.

Thanks

Why not just add the user group to the event log file security list? The
application event log is named AppEvent.evt. By default System and
Administrators are assigned. Find the file, right click, properties and
select the Security tab and add the users group to the list. Of course you
need to log on to the machine as an admin.
