inherited permissions problem
Posted by Fried on November 3rd, 2005

I have multiple users on a PC. One of the users is having troubles
running software because some of the files needed are "protected". I
looked at the permissions for the users and under the column "Inherited
from" the only one having a problem says, "parent object". All of the
rest (that work) say "G:\", which is the drive the needed files are
located.
I need to know how to change the one user so it is like all the others.

Please help

Grant the user the extra explicit allow permissions he needs which you can
do even if he has inherited permissions. You can also go into the advanced
page of properties/security and uncheck "inherit permissions from parent" at
which time you will be asked to remove or copy current permissions and you
can then configure explicit permissions. --- Steve
