- Posted by Ignotis on May 16th, 2008
Hey people,
After a hard day at school i've cam home to play my computer.. When i
turn my computer on it comes up with the windows login screen which is
not normal as the computer only has one account, no password, and
logins automatically. I click on my account, it loads my settings then
just logs out again. >:| I've tried starting it in safe mode but it
doesnt make any difference... Im running Windows XP Service pack 3 if
that helps?
Your HELP would very be appreciated.
Cheers

There are number of possible causes for this kind of behaviour. A common one
is that the file \windows\system32\userinit.exe is missing or corrupt. This
is run immediately after logon, and if it cannot be launched, then the logon
process keeps repeating.
Sometimes this happens because a Trojan has replaced userinit.exe with its
own file. When the Trojan is disinfected by an AV program, the problem starts.
