- network access to Program Files folder on another PC?
- Posted by James Houston on November 15th, 2005
Here's my problem: There's a pc in our office which uses a program that
stores its data in the same directory as its executable. I don't see any
way to change the program to point to another data folder. I occasionally
need to query this database (it's an Access db). Is it possible to share
this file so that I and I alone have read access? If so, how? Thanks in
advance.

You can't share just a file. You would have to share the whole folder. In XP
Pro you could configure the share to them only allow access from your user
account. --- Steve
