how would one password a folder on xp? I don't want to have to set up
different accounts for everyone else as it is a home computer... is there a
3rd party software which allows this?

One cannot password-protect a folder in Windows XP.
For a more secure method, see the following:

You Cannot Select the "Make This Folder Private" Option

Folders donīt accept passwords on Windows XP.
A easy solution for this is to use Winzip with password for the
files/folders within the folder that you want to protect, a backup is always
good in this case ...
