- Softw. Rest. Policy sometimes blocks EVERY app. until you reboot
- Posted by Kam on May 7th, 2008
Hi,
Has anyone experience this anomaly using the Software Restriction Policy:
We apply this GPO against all applications, then define many Allowed Path
Rules where we allow software to be run from. 99% of the time this works
fine, but occasionally the user logs in in the morning and finds that s/he
cannot start anything--email, MS Word, Windows Explorer, I.E., etc. The error
message clearly states that the application is being prevented by the
Software Restriction Policy, but these common apps should not be blocked
(these are in %programfiles% or %windir%, too!) Once the staff reboots the
computer and logs in again, everything is back to normal. And this does not
occur consistently on the same computer(s)... ??
