- Windows XP IPSec Services Startup Error
- Posted by RV99 on October 11th, 2005
Hi All -
When my IPSEC Services service tries to start, I get the following
error in the System Event Log:
The IPSEC Services service terminated with the following error:
An invalid argument was supplied.
If I try to start it manually from services.msc - I get a similar
dialog message:
Could not start IPSEC Services service on Local Computer.
Error 10022: An invalid argument was supplied.
If I look at the properties for the IPSEC Services service,
there are no start parameters passed to C:\WINDOWS\System32\lsass.exe.
Anyone seem this type of behavior in their Windows IPSEC travels ?
TIA,
RV

FYI -
I had to go back to a restore point to get it working. The registry may
have been corrupted for IPSEC Services when I installed and uninstalled
a Netgear VPN client. Now the QuickVPN client works great with my RV042
(firmware 1.3.7.2 available on linksysinfo.org). This makes an
excellent, cheap VPN solution for remote users.
