Blue screen of horror

HEEEEEELP...............!!!!
Sorry for the long intro but I thought it would be best to just give you
everything right from the start.

I installed a new hard drive on dell dimension 8300 xp home. I was able to
connect to Internet no problem.

Started updating and when service pk 2 was dll i got an error and then the
blue screen with stop 0x00000021aFatal system error windows logon could not
start system shut down.

Now i can't even boot from the os disk or start in safe mode. Anything i do
does bring up the logon screen but just for a glimpse and then the error
again.

How can I get this running? I finally get my dell going just to watch a blue
screen.

Yes, I have been able to access the boot menu but from there is where the
problem is.

No matter what option I select for booting the result is the blue screen
error.

After I select the boot option I want it seems as if it is going to work and
I get to see the logon screen just barely come up then the screen turns black
for a few seconds and I get the blue error screen.

The only screen i get to just has the bios version, copy right info, drive
info and below all of this it says strike F-1 to continue, F-2 to run setup
utility.

I have selected both. F-1 leads me to the blue screen and F-2 just puts me
in the utility menu for the boor sequence, etc, etc; same old story.

I tried the DVD burner also to see if there might be a problem. Same thing.

To log on to the Recovery Console you will have to go in the computer
BIOS and change the boot sequence so that the computer boots to the CD
before the hard disk.

How old is the laptop? You will have to have it serviced again.
