- Change DVD Drive Letter with Script/batch file?
- Posted by TheMachineRNC on April 30th, 2006
Hi all,
I'm scripting a Windows XP install through BartPE. I have a C drive that
will contain the OS, a D drive that will contained Docs and Settings, a Z
drive that will house my i386 folder and install media. This is all fine
until I reboot. Then it looks like:
C - OS
D - Docs and Settings
E - i386 and installers
F - DVD drive
I can easily get the E drive letter changed to Z using diskpart, but how can
I change the DVD drive to the letter E?
Help.
Thanks!

1st open device mgr, expand the tree for the dvd,R.click, select ununstall, dont
restart,close out,change the E: to other letter,restart computer,E: by
default
will be dvd new letter.Once changed, you'll need to adjust for this in
regedit,
expand:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/microsoft/windows/open set up.You'll find
the dvd might be listed as F: locate the 2,L.click one at a time,go to
edit,modify,
change to D: Do for both, close out regedit...
