FastTrack 66 -- Too Old?
Posted by just tere on February 2nd, 2006

I had the array set up -- built it just fine. I tried to install XP, using
the F6 option; inserted the Promise driver, it installed -- then I was told:
no disk on your system.

Is this RAID controller too old to use in an XP or am I just doing something
wrong?

TIA,

Sounds like you may have to change the boot sequence in your BIOS. Make
sure that SCSI or PCI add-on card (actual language may vary by BIOS version)
is listed in the bootable options.

I use a FastTrak100 RAID controller w/ XP myself, virtually identical cards,
works fine. There's really no reason these cards aren't still good w/ XP.
All the card does is install as a SCSI device w/ virtually all the workings
of the card taking place in the card's BIOS (which is why that BIOS is
configurable on boot-up). Very little dependence on the OS when it comes to
this card.
