Is it possible to disable standby in Microsoft XP. I use a Compaq Presario
SR1010NX.

Yes.
Open Power Options Properties...
Start | Run | Type: powercfg.cpl | Click OK |
Power Schemes tab | Under System standby, click the V
to display the menu and select Never | Click Apply |
Click OK

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Yes, Wesley, it worked. After clcking on standby, the screen went black, but
then it came back on right away. After disabling, in order to enable it
again, , I changed never to 1 minute and restarted the computer. After
clicking on standby, it only took a few seconds for the computer to go on
standby. Is this the proper way to enable it again? Thanks. sonny

sonny,
In the drop-down list, you can click any time period of inactivity that you
want to elapse before your computer goes on standby.
