Only way I know is to do it on a "per update" basis. Run the update
executable file from a command-prompt and append the command with the
*/n* switch as in:
D:\UPDATE\UPDATE.EXE /N
That can't be done with automatic updates or even when using Windows
Update website where files are downloaded and installed in a continuous
process till completed. You'd have to download the hotfixes/updates you
want manually by selecting "Use administrator options" on the website,
in order to install them via a command prompt one by one.
Hardly worth the hassle. Much easier to simply delete the backups once
you've established that the update has caused no problems.
