!!! Intel Pro 100VE - WinXP - RIS - SOLUTION !!!
Posted by laszlo.mako@gmail.com on March 2nd, 2006

Hello guys!

I found a solution for installing a computer which have an Intel Pro
100VE Nic from RIS.
I read hundreds of threads, but no working solution. after two days of
searching once i found myself ont Intel's page, and there was the
solution. So the link is:

http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...?ProductID=407

In the drop down menu choose Windows XP Professional. There you can
download the most up to date driver (nowadays it is v10.2), and a
little lower on the page there is a "Add-ons & Plugins" section. There
is the trick, download the "RIS-Specific INF files for use with Intel
10/100 Network Adapters on Windows XP RIS images".

If you got all of the stuff, you can extract the driver (run the exe,
it will extract the file for you, and stop the install program, when it
starts - the files will stay in the folder you typed in the setup
process). Find the Winxp driver folder within, and drop it into the
flat image. After that drop in the RIS specific inf file too, and
overwrite the one, contained by the driver.

IMPORTANT that the inf file worked to me only when i was using it with
the related driver (10.2) downloaded from the link above. Driver given
by HP and the RIS specific inf file gave me a BSOD.

It was a HP dx6120, but because of the solution is from intel not from
HP, i think, that isn't brand specific, so you who are not using hp ws,
can use this too.

Good Luck,
dRm
