- SP2 caused low-res, then no-res
- Posted by dmlewis3 on May 7th, 2008
I installed XP Pro on a Compaq evo, then let it update one item at a time,
but the SP2 upgrade left me with a really low-resolution screen, and all the
"adjust your resolution" options were either grayed or gone. The first time
this happened, I rebooted in hopes the situation was only momentary, but got
a black screen after the logo screen. The second rebuild, I did System
Restore and now won't allow SP2. But several of my apps won't install into a
non-SP2 environment.

Tried updating the actual hardware drivers? Those yyou would get from the
manufacturer of each piece of hardware - given what you have - Compaq.

Visit HP/Compaq site and install driver & other updates for your sys. Do NOT
use winupdate for drivers.
Then try again.
