Sysprepped machine taking long time to boot
Posted by msb-2007@nospam.nospam on January 27th, 2008

Not sure if this is typical behavior or not.. Seems awful slow upon rebooting
after sysprepping.

I've created my master machine, then I sysprep it (sysprep -mini -reseal
-quiet). This takes about 30 seconds and the machine shuts down. Upon
restart (I'm using a completely unattended sysprep.inf file btw), I get the
Please wait... Text Mode stuff, it then switches to the gui mode, and I
quickly get the Networking Settings screen with "Please wait while Windows
installs networking components." The progress bar jumps to 90% real quick,
then sits there for 10-15 minutes before completing.

I've tried setting InstallDefaultComponents=No and =Yes (in the [Networking]
section). And commenting out the OenPnPDriversPath statement. It takes a
long time no matter what.

This machine is a pretty simple setup; has a single nic card that is
supported by the base XP install. After the delay, everything works fine
(ie: after the delay, it reboots and works like a champ), but I just don't
think it should be taking that long to configure itself...

Any thoughts?
