- Posted by Mike Cruise on January 8th, 2006
My tyan S2875 motherboard is the latest in a seires of upgrades to my
desktop, with 2 opteron 248 prosessors @ 2.2ghz , 4gb bufferd/ecc ram and a
All in wonder 2006 ed 256mb agp video card . I started w/windows 98se
upgraded to xp home with my last board/prosessor upgrade and this time planed
to up to xp pro. So far I have tried every way to install this new OS but end
up with an unstable system or it will not boot. I suspect my problem lies
with the fact that my new product cd installs sp2 automaticly.

Question, did the PC boot and run properly before the OS upgrade but after
the hardware upgrade?
are the Ram the same ones before the OS upgrade? if not, I suspect it is the
RAM.
I had trouble installing XP pro on a new PC because of two sticks of RAM not
quite functioning. I got all sort of symptoms: blue screen, device driver
errors, unable to install. OS, corrupt disk files, or unable to install
some device drives

This is a direction I need to investigate. Circumstances have moved my
computer to a lower priority for a time but I will post my results when I
can. Thank you!
