- Windows XP update crashes!!!

Hi...
I've been trying to load Windows XP Home Edition upgrade to my computer
(currently running Windows 98 SE). Each time, the computer freezes at "14
minutes left....registering components". Anyone have this experience? or
know what I can do about it??
