- winxp home oem product key

ok....I'm about fed up....I have a compaq presario with a windows xp home oem
sticker.....I had to replace the motherboard....hence I had to perform a
repair install.....using a xp home oem genuine windows disk....it will not
except the product....and so therefore microsoft's activation crap is putting
another system builder thru a lot of wasted time trying to get this thing
activated....they should start paying us extra for having to waste our time
on activations because of virus damage...god forbid having to change out a
bad part....does anyone here have any kind of suggestion.....neither compaq
nor microsoft wants to talk about it unless I pay them a premium up
front.....it ain't my mistake....it's one of theirs....why should I have to
pay for their screw ups......HELP

What was resolution?
I have similar issue with cpu received from coworker that I repaired, have
disk but no key as she threw away paperwork! Need help so I can load system.
