- wont boot Win98 in cdrom
- Posted by groupposter on November 2nd, 2005
Hi,
I am trying to reinstall windows 98 with a harddisk that was from another
pc.It already has win98 on it. It wont detect my usb mouse and it also wont
boot from the cdrom although i have made sure to select the boot sequence as
cdrom,A,C in the bios settings.
I havent used win98 for a long time and i cannot remember if it will
automatically detect a usb mouse, will it ??? or is a simple reinstall needed
before the usb mouse will work ??? but it wont boot the win98 cd ...........
1) how to make it boot from cdrom - boot sequence already set as cdrom,A,C
2) old install of win98 from another pc on the hdd at moment
can anyone help ?
TIA

The boys from the Win9x newsgroup could probably help you.
This one looks at WinXP issues.

First off, the Win 98 cd was not bootable. You need to boot from a floppy
selecting cd support and run setup from the CD.
The mouse is enabled by the motherboard bios, Windows has not loaded yet.
You should check into the Windows 98 newsgroups for the best support for
your situation. I used to know this stuff, but I forgot it long ago. 8-)
