- XP install and saving old data

Hi, I'm quite a newbie with windows! I have my HDD divided into 2 partitions:
C: contains windows xp and D: all the data I want to keep. So can I just
delete all the C: ,install windows xp and not to loose data on D: ? And how?

You can do a NEW XP install onto the C drive formatting the drive in the
process..........or just a Repair Install which would keep all of your
settings and all non XP stuff on the C drive.Neither one would touch the D
drive............

However, a backup of important data is always a good idea. While formatting
the C drive isn't going to touch the D drive, I've known enough people (some
professionals) who have accidentally formatted the wrong drive, or both
drives. Making a backup copy is a lot less trouble than trying to recover
the data after you've messed things up.
