Backup to Tape Verify taking too long.
Posted by Charles Irwin on February 27th, 2005

I am running SBS 2003 standard edition on a server with a SCSI controller
and an HP StorageWorks SDLT 320 tape drive. The backup works fine but the
SBS2003 Backup config wizard turns on verify by default. This normally would
be a good idea but the backup is so large that it does not complete in time
before the backup job for the following day starts. How does one turn off
verify?

Thanks in advance.

Charles

My first question would be: What time are you starting the backup?

To answer your specific question: After running the backup with the wizard, open NTBackup and open the SBS file (I don't have the specific path where its stored but look under Program Files, Small Bussiness Server I think) and you should be able to turn off verify from there

Hi Chris,

I have the same problem. Followed the comment you gave in this newsgroup (about running the wizard and then opening the sbs-file)
When I open the SBS-file, Verifying is NOT selected. So i think it is done "by default" in SBS.
Is there any other way to disable it ?

Jo Lambrecht.
