- faxing to numbers from address book
- Posted by Polp on July 10th, 2003
Hallo,
here in my company used to be faxing easy - till our telecomunication
company changed prefix for calling. Well, now when I try to fax with contact
from outlook address book, it seems good number is inserted into FAX dialog
from address book but no fax is send. I have to manually write fax number
and check "Dial as entered" to be able to fax. In Server, I see documents
are in printer's queue, and it still retryies to send them.
I have tryed everything I was able to do, no progress. I have several
questions which would help me to know the answers. :
1) I would like to see on server which number is to be dialed - i mean to
see number of that document in printer's queue - it would help me a lot in
finding what is wrong..
2) It seems to me that number in client is set OK (something like "test@+420
221590942" which should be OK - if it is OK that test@ - but I dont know how
to avoid this it is automaticly inserted), but in server is added something
wrong? But what? (question n1 would maybe answer this )
detail information of our configuration:
server NT4 + SBS 4.5
cleints W2000
thanks a lot

For #1 you could turn on logging in the advanced diagnostics page for the
modem in the control panel. It would show you exactly what was being sent
to it in a text file. Just be sure to turn it off when done.
I gather your problem is related to "10 digit dialing". I'm not sure if the
FAX number is modified by the server based on it's settings in the
"Telephony" control panel but you may want to check it. Also verify any
client settings. Also make sure you are fully up to date with service packs
and patches as MS had to add support for 10 digit dialing a few years back.
As for the test@ stuff -- the FAX number in the outlook address book should
not have any text in it. Perhaps that is the subject of the FAX that is
inserted when you send something?
