Firewall Client ISA2000/2004 + XP/Vista Clients + SBS 2k3 Premium
Posted by Hermann Schellhorn on April 1st, 2008

Hi all,

i need to know, if i NEED to install the Firewall Client in the following
situations:

- SBS 2k3 Premium, ISA 2000, XP Pro Clients?
- SBS 2k3 Premium, ISA 2000, Vista Clients?
- SBS 2k3 Premium, ISA 2004, XP Pro Clients?
- SBS 2k3 Premium, ISA 2004, Vista Clients?

and the same if i UPDATED from SBS 2k to SBS 2k3.

then comes the question:
- "Do i need to turn off the Windows Firewall (both XP and Vista), if i use
the Firewall Client?"

Kindly Regards

If ISA is installed, no matter what version, the latest firewall client (available at Microsoft downloads) should be installed on the workstation
Workstation firewalls are handled by GPO

Hi and thx for the Answer,

i have installed the Firewall Client on a XP and one Vista Client, now i've
got the following Problem:

- I can establish a VPN Connection, but no RDP. When i click on Connect, i
get the message, that this Computer can't connect to the Remotecomputer.
If i turn of the Firewall Client, it runs like before.

Did I miss somehing or what do I have to do now? I'm a little helpless atm.

So you're inside the SBS LAN and now you need to establish VPN or RDP connections to another network??

So did you check the Windows Firewall in Vista and make sure that RDP is enabled?
