I have a client with a laptop running Win XP Pro SP2, using MS access 2007.
While he is in the office, Access files seem to work without getting file
locked error. The access files are located on a on SBS 2003 R2 Server
network share.
But when he goes home at night and tries to access his MS Access file over a
VPN Connection the file shows locked. He said he was able to get into his
file for a few days but now when he tries to access the file via his vpn
connection the file is locked. No else is using the file, and when he goes
back into the office he can then access the file again.
After talking with the client His VPN connection seems to work fine when
accessing other documents "word - excel - outlook" The problem looks to be
with the access over a vpn connection. Again it was working fine up until a
couple of weeks ago and then it started locking files so that he cann't
access over his VPN connection. When he first goes into the folder over the
vpn connection no .LDB file shows, but after he tries to get into the access
file it then locks. He said that there are no other errors or error codes
that come up on the screen, except that the file is locked. also he said last
night that it took a long time almost 20 minutes to get the locked file error
and then about 5 minutes when he tried to do other menu options from with in
access.
