NT client won't connect to SBS 4.5 server
Posted by SanJose239 on September 1st, 2004

Hi,

I just installed Windows NT, servive pack 6 on a client PC. The SBS 4.5 server
has Windows NT. Other client PC's (Win 98, Win XP) can connect to this server
without any problem.

I created a set up floppy disk from the SBS 4.5 server, and chose "Windows NT"
client option. When I inserted this floppy into the the Windows NT client, it
goes thru its set up process. As it goes to set up the domain, I get this
error message:

"Unable to connect to the domain controller for this domain. Have your
administrator check your computer account on the domain."

The user name I created has already existed previously on the SBS 4.5 server,
and it worked before with the previous client PC that was running Windows NT.

I confirmed that my network card on the client PC works properly, and I can
independently connect this PC to the Internet. But somehow, it won't connect
to the server.

Any suggestion what's causing this problem? Thanks.
